The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA), on Sunday arrested one Stephen Afam Ikeanyionwu, a suspected major drug dealer in a church in Lagos.
The NDLEA spokesman,Femi Babafemi in a statement said the suspect was arrested following attempt to export 69.65 kilograms of cocaine,heroine and cannabis to the United Kingdom through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport!( MMIA), Lagos on Thursday 12th August,2021.
According to him, the consignment containing the illicit drugs had been sent to the airport through a freight forwarding company, which in turn gave a driver to deliver at the NAHCO export shed.
” Following the arrest of the driver,follow up operations and investigations later revealed the true identity of the actual owner of the consignment, Stephen Afam Ikeanyionwu,who was arrested three days later in a sting operation.
Babafemi further disclosed that operatives of the NDLEA also arrested an Italy- bound passenger, Abibu Miminu for ingesting illicit drugs.
Miminu was arrested during the outward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airways flight to Italy via Addis- Ababa.
