Niger State Government has directed the suspension of cattle market operations across the state.
The directive comes into effect from Wednesday.
The move according to a statement signed on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Matane was part of measures to address security challenges in the state.
The statement said any vehicle carrying cattle into the state must show way- bill evidence of the origin where the cattle were purchased and their destination.
While noting that the state government had banned the sale of petroleum products in Jerry cans or any other containers at filling stations, it warned all filling stations not to sell petrol of more than N10,000 to each vehicle but be cautious of vehicles or motorcycles for repeated purchases.
The government also spoke on its decision to suspend the operation of trucks carrying firewood timber across the state saying that it was not unaware of the inconveniences the measures would cause the people but that the decision was taken in the overall interest of the state.
Following the ban , all motorcycles are allowed to operate from 6 a.m to 6. p.m just as it condemned in strong terms the degree of carnage and mayhem bandits and kidnappers are causing to some parts of the state.
The statement reiterates the government determination to rid the state of criminal elements and called on the people to be vigilant and report all suspicious movements or objects to security agents.
