The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday held local government area congresses across the country with reports from Jigawa, Kebbi and Rivers stating peaceful conduct of the exercise while in Niger State, 5 LGA s kicked against the Consensual arrangement and insisted on having election on Sunday.
Report from Jigawa said the exercise was peaceful and smooth in all 27-local government areas of the state.and
all the newly elected local governments party executives emerged through consensus and affirmations.
The consensus formula adopted at the congress was said to have contributed to the hitch free exercise.
Speaking on the congresses, the Jigawa State Secretary of APC local Congress Committee, Alhaji Haruna Musa expressed his appreciation for the outcome of the congresses in all the 27- LGAs.
Alhaji Haruna who was the APC national representative at the Jigawa Congresses, commended the party members in Jigawa for exhibiting high sense of maturity and patriotism during the conduct of the congress.
He however described, the success of the congress as a step towards APC’s overwhelming victory in 2023 general election.
Also commenting on the exercise, the Chairman local organizing committee, Hon. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo said, the congress recorded 99 percent success in the state.
“The party is getting more and more stronger and more united after each congress, this ensued from the action of our leader and governor of Jigawa state, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar who allowed democracy to take it cause at all level,” Danzomo declared.
In Kebbi, all the 21 LGAs elected the officers through consensus.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and the National officer, Osita Okechukwu were on hand at the Justice Ibrahim Umaru primary school comprising 15 wards.
Okechukwu commended the peaceful conduct of the election..
The turn out of the election in Rivers State was overwhelming and reports across the 23 LGAs indicate a peaceful conduct of the exercise.
In Etche Local Government Area, Party men and women filed out peacefully and returned their preferred Candidates.
However, the situation was different in Niger State as 5 Local Government Areas out of 25 insisted on going to the field to exercise their franchise.
Briefing the Niger State Governor, in Government House,Minna,Senator Domingo Obeinde , Chairman of the APC for NIger State said the 5 LFAs could not agree on the consensus as they insist on going ahead with the election on Sunday by 10 a. m
The LGAs according to him are, Wushishi,Rijau,Shiroro,Bida and Lapai.
