Unspecified number of armed men suspected to be bandits terrorising Kaduna State have struck Madami village in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna killing 34 people while no fewer than seven persons were injured.
Kaura Local Government Area is located in Southern Kaduna which has recorded worst forms of serial attacks by armed men identified as” sacred terrorists”
The bandits reportedly carried out the operation on Sunday night and also set fire to some houses in the village.
In a statement on Monday, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan said troops engaged the bandits in a gun battle before the bandits withdrew after intense pressure
According to him, the troops have arrested two suspects in connection with the attack adding that the troops were also able to put out fire in three of the burning houses and also rescued six locals from the fire.
Reacting to the incident, Governor Nasir El- Rufai described the attack as unspeakable display of wickedness, meriting the severest form of punishment
The governor while ordering an urgent assessment of the area promised that the state would bear full cost of the injured victims.
