The people of Fugar across the world represented by the Fugar Progressive Union (FPU), have prayed for safe rescue of the abducted Divisional Police Officer of the Fugar Police division in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo state, Mr. Ibrahim Aliyu Ishaq, along the old Auchi-Ekperi-Agenebode road in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo state, while on his way to his duty post in Fugar.
A statement by the FPU spokesman, Mr Solomon Obomighie, on behalf of the National President, Barrister Richard Anetekhai, said the people received the news with sadness and empathy to the Nigeria Police community and his family.
“The abduction which is one out of many incidences not just in Edo state, but across the country, has once again justified the calls for the need to tighten security in our various communities” the statement noted.
The statement says that the kidnapping of the DPO is even more worrisome because it heightens the already tensed security situation in the land. If a chief law officer can be abducted, who else is safe?
“We commend the Nigeria Police Force for the rescue operation so far and called on the government to ensure adequate security of lives and property of our people”
The FPU socio cultural group also called on all Fugarians, particularly at home not to panic as the newly reinvigorated Fugar Vigilante Squad, which is part of the Edo Security Network, in collaboration with the security agencies, are working round the clock to ensure the safe return and safety of all Fugarians and non natives in Local Government.
Some of the traditional rulers, who spoke with our Correspondent, expressed surprise over the incident and pledged to join in prayer for the safe rescue of the DPO, whom they described as a dedicated and God-fearing officer.
“Our concern is not only for the people but every citizen living in the community,” They assured.
Meanwhile, the Fugar Progressive Union has assured of adequate and water tight security during the Fugar Day celebrations due to commence on the 19th to 27th of December, 2021.
“There is no cause for alarm since we have in place our vigilante Squad working in collaboration with all security agencies to ensure peace and security before, during and after the celebrations” it concluded.
In another development, the search for the abducted DPO continued throughout the night o Saturdayf 27 th of Novembe to Sunday morning as the abductors have demanded for a N50 million ransom.
The search team which was led by the Police Anti- Kidnapping squad of Edo State Command that was deployed from Benin, also included ten ( 10) personnel of the Fugar Vigilante Squad.
The Suspected Kidnappers have communicated with the wife of the DPO.
Make Richard and others go the Fugar come back first make we see.
