The Morning Star Hospital in Port Harcourt has been named the recipient of the 2021-2022 Rotary Vocational Service Award by the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi.
This award is given each year to a non-Rotarian person/Organization in recognition of excellence in a vocational service that is recognized beyond the territory of the club.
The Past District Governor of the Rotary International District 9141 PDG Nze Anizor while presenting the award to the Medical Director of Morning Star Hospitals Limited, Dr Rita Ezennaka, said the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi recognized the efforts of the Hospital for high ethical standards in the area of health care, for solving the needs of the society, and special considerations for the underprivileged members of the society.
Addressing the award-recipient, the President of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, Chinwe Ekong Asanga, said the “value of life well lived is not by the house you lived in or by the car you drove, but by the impact you made on the society”.
The Consolidator President, Chinwe Ekong Asanga, said what stands out the humanitarian activities of the Hospital is one of it’s service delivery beliefs that ” No one must be allowed to die because of money”.
She also said the hospital has carried out numerous free medical outreach, scholarships and empowerment programmes in its host communities.
The founder of the hospital, Dr Patrick Ohia, said “This is such an honour for us that it cannot be overstated. Recognition from the community in which you live and work, and from a reputable organization as Rotary Club of Trans – Amadi, is so gratifying and means so much to us.”
He said the health facility will continue to do more to affect lives positively.
Our correspondent, Precious Ahiakwo-Ovie, reports that many Rotary clubs around the world recite the Rotary International’s 4-Way Test at each meeting. It is a reminder to members about how best to conduct their lives and serve their community. It consists of four questions related to telling the truth, being fair, building goodwill, fostering better friendships and being beneficial to all concerned.
