The Kalabari Language Speaking People in Akuku-Toru, Asari-Toru and Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have been called upon to queue behind the Bible Society of Nigeria in the next Phase of the Kalabari Bible Translation.
They have also been called to support and donate generously towards the production of the Kalabari Study Bible King James Version.
The Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno made the call last Sunday,March 6 during the Founders Day Celebration at the African Church Our Saviour’s Cathedral, Buguma City in Asari-Toru Local Area.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno disclosed that the Kalabari language Study Bible was being reviewed by the Kalabari Bible Translation/ Review Committee headed by the Primate of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, The Most Reved (Dr) Neme B. John Fyneface JP.
The Chairman explained that a two in one Bible combining Kalabari and English Edition is also being reviewed to make the reading and understanding the Kalabari Bible easier.
He, therefore, appealed to the Clergy, traditional rulers and the people in the three Kalabari Local Government Areas to mobilised and cooperate with the Committee to bring this unique Kalabari Language Bible to a reality.
Elder Ayo- Tamuno lauded the leadership of the Kalabari Bible Translation/ Review Committee for being at the fore front in translation activities and being very supportive to the Bible Society of Nigeria.
He said that the Society which was established on February 8, 1966 would continue to partner with the Church to translate and make the Bible available in more Nigerian Languages.
Speaking on behalf of the Diocesan/Archbishop of the Rivers Province of the African Church, His Grace, the Most Revd Dr D. B. Kaladukobo JP, the Cathedral Provost, the Venerable Clifford Akeodi Edum promised that the Church would continue to support the Society to achieve its aims and objectives.
Highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the BSN Sower Magazine, Calendar and Book of Report on the Activities of the Society to the Provost.
