The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has said that it has arrested five people accused of assaulting minors in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer,CSP Frederick Nnudam disclosed this in a statement to newsmen on Thursday.
Nnudam said’ The battle against culprits of assault and other sex based savagery in Akwa Ibom State yielded another forward leap as five ( 5)suspects were captured in the state
He said the suspects had at different times lured underaged children to their hideouts and assaulted them.
A case in point is that of one Edidiiong Daniel Tommy ( 33) who diverted a 16year old girl to his home located at 75, Hospital Road in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and raped her at gunpoint.
Nnudam disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police,Imohimi Edgal empathised with the victims of rape assuring that the culprits would face the law
