Barely 48hours after northern elders demanded for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari, Reps Peoples Democratic Party, PDP caucus, has joined to also demand the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The caucus in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its leader, Rep Kingsley Chinda, said with the latest killings in Benue and Plateau this week, Buhari has no moral right to continue leading Nigeria.
“We as a caucus and representatives of Nigerians demand Buhari quits if he can no longer secure our constituents in our various constituencies.
“The latest killings in Benue and Plateau are uncalled for despite having intelligence reports, our security apparatuses across board still failed to nip it in the bud.
“This is a sad commentary because several billions of dollars was voted for defence yet nothing tangible is on ground to show for it, rather hundreds of Nigerians are sent to the great beyond everyday.
“It’s no longer news to hear that bandits slaughter Nigerians like chicken but what is the news these days is to hear Buhari boasting he won’t resign and hosting endless security meetings without any fruitful results.
“From all indications, we are not in a state of war but human carnage on a daily basis is well over what’s happening in war torn countries.
“Despite the huge amounts voted and tucanos purchased with our hard earned money, no positive results to even show that ordinary bandits cannot be overpowered by our security operatives.
“In the recent past we have called for Buhari’s resignation and even demanded for his impeachment because we have seen through him that he has failed in all human endeavours.
“Under his watch Nigerians are being slaughtered on a daily basis, the economy has catapulted into an auto-reverse yet he is sitting tight in Aso Rock as if nothing is wrong.
“As a caucus, we throw our weight behind his northern elders that the nightmare they call Buhari should quit office for good.
“We can’t continue to live in perpetual fear, land, rail and air transportation, are no longer safe yet Buhari wants to remain in government to bury more Nigerians?
“This caucus will not fold its hands and watch our Nigeria collapse under a lame duck president”. PDP Reps Caucus remarked.
