The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has resolved to go ahead with its presidential primary election on Saturday at the Moshood Abiola MKO Stadium, Abuja.
Earlier, an emergency meeting of the party’s National Working Committee was held at the Party’s headquarters to examine the new window of extension by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) and consider the option of rescheduling its national convention
The opposition party had kicked against INEC’s action on Friday evening extending the deadline of party primaries. This, did not go down well with some PDP leaders who blamed INEC for the late hour decision. They said the election umpire’s decision was done to side with the ruling All Progressives Congress APC.
Reacting to INEC’s decision, PDP’s National Organising Secretary,Debo Ologunagba said it was disheartening that INEC would shift the ball in the middle of the goal post
Following INEC’S deadline for June 3 , the main opposition party had fixed its Presidential primary for today and tomorrow,.Against this background, delegates began to arrive the Federal Capital Territory FCT from Thursday,May 26.
Meanwhile, the APC has extended its presidential primary to June 6 and 7 . The development, the PDP believe was to analyse and internalize the outcome of its presidential primary to move forward.
