The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP )has set up an 11- member commitee to screen its Vice Presidential Candidate nominated by its advisory committee on Tuesday.
Wike was among three governors whose names were put forward for the vice presidential slot
After the nominations were reportedly put forward and the commitee put it to vote to ensure fairness, Wike won overwhelmingly scoring 16 out of 19 votes.
It was gathered that 3 votes went in favour of the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa while the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel had none.
According to a statement on Wednesday issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba , the screening is in pursuant to Part: VI, Paragraph 14 of the Electoral Guidelines of the party.
He said that the screening aim to verify the nominated vice presidential candidate of our party for the 2023 general elections.
Members of the committee are Chief Tom Ikimi- Chairman, Captain Idris Wada ( rtd) Chief Osita Chidoka,,Mr Binta Bello, Honourable Austin Opara, Prof. Aisha Madawaki, Mrs Ayotunde George- Ologun, Chief Mrs Chidebelu Mofus and Fidelis Tapgun.
The statement named Dr Dr Akilu Ndabawa as Secretary while Mr Sunday Omobo will serve as administrative secretary.
The vice presidential candidate is expected to be officially unveiled on Thursday.
