Worshippers at Adoration Ministry at Umuchigbo, Enugu on Sunday protested the ban on the Ministry by the Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Callistus Onaga.
Onaga had on Friday banned the clergy and other officials of the Catholic church from attending all religious activities in the Adoration Ministry.
Bishop Onaga had said his decision followed some utterances and teachings of Fr Mbaka which are not consistent with the teachings and faith of the Catholic Church.
Onaga’s statement came barely forty eight hours after Mbaka told his mamoth gathering that the candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi would never be president of Nigeria because he is a very stingy man and cursed.
Shortly after Mbaka’s remarks, followers of Obi took to social media and lambasted the fiery priest making him to retract his statement and apologized.
The ban by Bishop Onaga reportedly compelled Fr Mbaka to shut his Ministry to worshippers .
However, die- hard worshippers at the Adoration Ministry including old men and women and youths gathered on Sunday and took to the streets to protest the Bishop’s ban.
Bishop Onaga had said that the ban remains in place until the canonical process initiated by the Diocese is concluded.
