Chicago State University has confirmed that the All Progressives Congress APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu attended the school from August 1977- June 1979.
The Institution made this known on Monday in an email signed by Caleb Westburg,Registrar, Office of Records and Registration and addressed ” To whom it may concern” .
The letter said that Tinubu was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with Honours on June 22,1979 .
His major was accounting it says.
Tinubu had been dragged into a certificate scandal shortly after submission of relevant documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC).
In the past one week Tinubu’s academic qualifications scandal had made headlines in the print and online News channels. He was quoted as saying “My house was raided when I went on exile and the military destroyed my documents.”.
A Civil Rights Group called Center for Reform and Public Advocacy and the Action Peoples Party ( APP) threatened to sue the APC candidate for perjury over discrepancies in academic qualifications.
Accordingly, the CSO wrote to the Inspector General of Police requesting him to arrest and prosecute Tinubu for perjury.
But the Tinubu Campaign organisation saw the move as the handiwork of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
The Campaign organisation Spokesman,Bayo Onanuga affirmed the raid of Tinubu’s residence during the military rule and absolved his boss of any wrong doing.
The confirmation of attendance by the Chicago State University is expected to douse the certificate scandal rocking the APC and its presidential candidate..
