An Ondo High Court sitting in Akure on Friday sentenced a welder to death by hanging for being responsible for the death of his wife.
Daniyan Ojo 50 locked the wife in the room and set the house on fire while she was sleeping after accusing her of buying a car and three plots of land without informing him.
The incident happened on September 14 ,2019 at Irese road, Shagari Vllage, Akure.
The deceased brother, Adeniyi Samuel who was among the witnesses had told the court that his sister bought the property in her name because she was afraid that her husband could dispose them without her knowledge.
Ojo however denied the allegation.
Delivering judgement on the matter, Justice A.O Adebusoye said that judging from the evidence and testimonies before him, the accused person was guilty as charged and sentenced him to die by hanging.
