The Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei has said that his respect for the National Assembly was what made him to honour the Senate invitation.
Pondei made this known at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday shortly after the House of Representatives ordered his arrest for walking out on the committee investigating alleged corruption in the commission.
He said he would not appear before the current panel of the House of Representatives because the Commission had already accused the panel of corruption adding that he would appear when a fresh ad hoc commitee that has not been accused of corruption by the NDDC is set up.”
“Any day a fresh ad-hoc commitee without anybody who has been accused by the NDDC is set up,,then NDDC will appear because we respect the National Assembly,we respect the House of Representatives.
Pondei said they did not walk out on the lawmakers as they asked for permission before leaving.
