The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (, APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has given reasons for his choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
Speaking to State House Correspondents on Sunday in Daura after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Tinubu said he chose Shettima because he is competent, capable, reliable and able.
Tinubu said he was in Daura to pay Salah homage to the president and to inform him of the choice of Shettima as his running mate.
The announcement of a substantive running mate follows the withdrawal today of Kabiru Masari earlier introduced as ” placement”.
The former governor of Lagos State expressed optimism of winning the 2023 election saying ” We are going to win. Insha Allah . Because we are a progressive party. We are focused on Nigerian’s problems and we face the challenge squarely. We are not running away from it.We have a better programme for the people and about the people and ready to serve.”
Shettima is a serving Senator representing Borno Central. He is also the immediate past governor of Borno State. Shettima is an Agricultural Economist,a lecturer with the University of Maiduguri before he delved into politics. He was born on 2nd September 1966 and happily married to Nana Shettima. They are blessed with three children.
