A Police report said on Monday that the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in Akwa Ibom State,Mr Stephen Leo Ntukekpo should be charged for forgery and impersonation over documents he used to obtain a court judgement which made it easy for him to be sworn in as the Chairman of the APC in the state.
The report is contained in a memo dated July 4 and signed by Ochogwu Ogbeh,a Deputy Commissioner of Police and head of the Legal and Prosecution section, Force Criminal Investigative Department ( FCID)
The investigation followed complaint by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC,Mr Sheriff Banki that his signature was forged by Ntukekpo to pave his way for his swearing in as the Chairman of the party in the state.
Banki who chaired the committee that conducted the state primary last year said another man, Austin Ekanem participated in the election and was elected and not Stephen Ntukekpo
He said he was shocked to hear that his signature was forged and the winner was replaced with Ntukekpo .
Ntukekpo was sworn in in Abuja in April 2022 by the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu despite a contrary order by the Court of Appeal which directed all parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the case.
“
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the state,Mr Mike Igini had repeatedly brought to the fore , the illegality of the election conducted by Ntukekpo which is responsible for APC’s absence on the gubernatorial ballot of the state in the 2023 election.
