Corpses of three female students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University,Igbarian campus, Anambra State were on Saturday discovered in a hostel.
The students all in their second year were identified as Obidiaso Chidera ( Political Science ) , Mercy Pharmacy student, and Emanmuella,( Business Administration )
The room in which the students corpses were discovered was said to be locked from outside with two of the lifeless bodies of the students lying on their beds while the other body was found in the kitchen.
The death of the students have sparked public outcry with many blaming the school authorities for negligence while others see the deaths as mysterious murder.
They wondered how the front door would be locked while students are inside and asked the security agencies to look deep for answers.
In the midst of this is a statement by the University ‘s Public Relations Officer,Dr Harrison Madubueze, which says” The university management received with rude shock the news of the death of three of our students. At the moment the date, time and and manner of their death are still uncertain.
” However, the security operatives are investigating the matter, and at the appropriate time, they will make the findings public “.
The Spokesman said the university was not aware that students in their second year and above were still within the school environment as” the institution closed on August 24,2022 after the second semester examination and will resume on October 1,2022.”.
