The House of Representatives Committee investigating the power sector has condemned the CBN Governor’,Godwin Emefiele,’s refusal to answer questions about the power sector privatization process
Chairman of the Committee i,,Ado Doguwa, said that this is the second time the CBN governor would turn down their invitation.
Doguwa said that the CBN Governor’must appear before the committee to account for the money expended on the power sector.
He said the committee would take all neccessary actions to compel Emefiele to appear before it.
“Nobody has anything personal with the Central Bank Governor, I don’t know him from Adam and I don’t see the reason why this Man acting in the capacity of the appointment of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in a democratic setting would continue to denigrate the integrity and the powers of the National Assembly as an institution.
t is unfortunate that I have to make this statement. We have written to him once ,,we have written to him twice,, there is no submissions,he has not come he has not asked anyone to come and act on his behalf which means the institution and the committee in particular would now be compelled under all circumstances to deploy the availablei nstrumentality of our own power as a constitutional institution to compel the governor of Central Bank to appear before it
” This will be the last opportunity for the Central Bank Governor to appear before the committee. He is only the Governor of Central Bank and nothing else ” he said
