Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was Thursday conferred with the title of Okokonjo 1 of Idoma , meaning the unbreakable by the Ochi’ Idoma.
The governor was also presented with a certificate and staff of office for his contribution to the kingdom.
His ally, and member of the G-5, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State was also conferred with a traditional title of the defender of the defenceless at the new ultra modern Och’i’Idoma palace in Oturkpo
Speaking at the occasion which preceded the commissioning of the Och’i’Idoma palace, Wike thanked the people of Idoma kingdom for the honour bestowed on him.
He praised Governor Ortom for his stand for equity, fairness and justice saying that those were the attributes that endeared him to the Benue governor ..
The Rivers Governor also expressed Joy over the new ultra modern Och’i’Idoma palace built by the Ortom administration pointing out that that is one area he had not fully paid attention to in Rivers State.
Thursday title is the second to be conferred on Governor Wike by the people of Benue. A few years ago, Wike was conferred with a title in Tiv kingdom by the Tor Tiv.
