Few hours after collation in Lagos was concluded declaring the candidate of the Labour Party winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Lagos, hoodlums went on a destruction spree of markets dominated by Ibos in the state.
Video being circulated showed people scampering for safety and shops destroyed around Lagos Island..
In the just concluded election in Lagos State, the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was projected to win having won the state for the APC in previous elections.
But many factors including an ASUU strike that lingered for months, Increased youth awareness in political development and religion played a very significant role in shaping opinions, bringing about a paradigm shift in Lagos and other parts of the country.
But the defeat notwithstanding, Tinubu has urged caution and sued for calmness .
In a Press statement on Monday signed by Bayo Onanuga, his Director, Media and Publicity said the victory of Labour party in Lagos should not warrant any act of provocation but be seen as the ” beauty of democracy” where people have the right to vote for the candidate of their choice.
