Guber Election: Sokoto Falls To APC 

Ahmed Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress APC has won the March 18 gubernatorial election in Sokoto state.,

Aliyu scored a total of 453,661 to defeat his arch challenger, Saidu Umar of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who got 404,632

Sokoto state is the state governed by Amunu Waziri Tambuwal, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Director General,PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

At the February 25 Presidential election, the PDP won the APC with a very slim margin.

Sokoto is also home to the APC strongman, Senator Magatakarda Wamakko, former governor of the state and Tambuwal’s predecessor.
