
The All Progressives Congress APC in Benue state has suspended, a chieftain of the party, Senator Barnabas Gemade for anti party activities.
Also suspended is Professor Terhemba Shija.
The State Chairman of the party,Mr Austin Agada made this known at a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday in Makurdi, the Benue state capital
Agada alleged that they worked against the party during the 2023 general elections.
The two men were aspirants at the last governorship Primary that produced the governor elect,Rev.Fr Hyacinth Alia as the governorship candidate of the party.
He said that Mr Gemade and Prof Shija despite taking the party to court colluded with the opposition to win their units , wards and local government areas.
“Gemade lost his polling unit, ward and local government area to the opposition and Shija colluded with PDP against the party.
“Shija is still in court and is working hand in hand with PDP to have Alia’s victory at the last general election quashed at the tribunal,” Agada said.
The party chairman said that the case had been referred to the APC fact-finding committee to advance reasons why they should not be expelled from the party.
Agada who stated that the suspended party chieftains deserved to be expelled from the party said that the issue had been referred to the APC fact finding committee for further action.
