The Qatari government on Wednesday inaugurated the construction of a multi million dollar mass housing for the poor and vulnerable persons in Kaduna State.
According to promoters, the mass housing is under the Qatar Sanabil Project which aims to positively impact the lives of over 500,000 poor, underserved, and vulnerable citizens of Kaduna state.
Performing the Flag Off of the project at the Millennium City, Kaduna,Qatar’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Ali Bin Ghanem Al-Hajri commended Governor Uba Sani for his support towards the success of the Qatar Sanabil project in the state.
Al – Hajiri said also revealed various interventions and empowerment programmes for the less-privileged and underserved across the state which “ include scholarships for orphans and children of the poor, distribution of sewing machines, welding machines, irrigation pumping machines, salon kits, and drilling of hundreds of boreholes across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State,”
In his remarks, Governor Sani praised the embassy of Qatar in Nigeria and the Qatari-owned Sanabil Project for keying into the “business-friendly environment inherent in Kaduna State.”
Mr Sani also lauded the Qatari government for choosing Kaduna to be the location of the mass housing project for vulnerable and underserved citizens adding “The Economic City will provide world-class infrastructure and make Kaduna a reference point in modern and affordable accommodation with adequate security and a conducive atmosphere for business activities.
“It will also harness product value chain opportunities and improve economic growth,”
The governor unfolded his admistration’s desire to transform the state in such a way that it would become the economic centre and reference point of the North.
“Our vision is to make Kaduna the leading economic hub in the North. We want to create a business cluster that will drive competition in the Northern Region,”
Gov Sani also commended his predecessor for his efforts towards giving the state a facelift .
