Some Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress APC in the South -South geopolitical zone-South on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to ex- governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on his appointment as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State is among 45 Ministerial nominees confirmed and on Wednesday, assigned potfolios.
The APC South South group was led by Senator Adams Oshiomole,a former governor of Edo state
Others in the delegation include Prince Chibudom Nwuche,a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, A PDP Chieftain,Chief Dan Orbih and Victor Giadom,a former member of the APC National Working Committee NWC.
Wike,a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP delivered his state to Bola Tinubu ( APC )in the March 25 presidential election following unresolved internal differences in his party.
The former governor and four of his colleagues, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, Samuel Ortom of Benue,Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and re-elected Seyi Makinde of Oyo popularly called the integrity group ( G5) governors agitated for power shift in the PDP which the party machinery brazenly rejected leading to disaffection and eventual defeat of the party in the presidential election.
Believing in the capacity of Wike to deliver, President Tinubu nominated him as Minister and assigned the portfolio of FCT to the former governor thus making him the first Southerner in over 4 decades to be so appointed to mann the FCT Ministry previously, the exclusive preserve of northern nominees.
Wike and his colleagues will be sworn in on Monday according to a statement issued from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
