The first Indigenous chattered accountant in Nigeria, Pa Akintola Williams is dead. The late sage passed on in his sleep at about 9am on Monday Morning at the age of 104.
Pa Williams pioneered the accounting profession in Nigeria and was also instrumental in the development of the country’s financial sector.
Pa Williams studied accounting at the University of London and qualified as a chartered in 1947.
He was a founding member of the institute of accounting in Nigeria and presided over its affairs from 1963- 1965.
The doyen of fiscal matters was also a fellow of the institute of Chattered Accountants in England and Wales.
On August 9, Family, Friends and those he mentored in the accounting profession gathered around Pa Williams to celebrate his 104th birthday.
