Fleeing Prisoner in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States, Danilla Calvacante, who was captured early Wednesday has been charged with Felony escape and denied bail.
Calvacante 34, was convicted last month of first degree murder for killing his former girlfriend, 33 – year – old Deborah Brandao and sentenced to life in prison.
He was said to have stabbed Brandao 38 times in front of her two young children in Pennsylvania in April 2021. Calvacante was arrested after the killing in Virginia while trying to flee to Mexico and later head to Brazil his native land .
The State Department of Corrections said Calvacante is in the State Correctional institution SCI Phoenix – a Pennsylvania state prison located in Montgomery county – where he will serve mandatory life sentence for first – degree murder.
According to the prison website,the State Correctional institution , Phoenix is a maximum – security prison and has a capacity for 3830 inmates.
Calvacante escaped from Chester County prison some 30 miles away from Philadelphia on August 31 and was on the run for two weeks making the state police Department and other security organisations to launch a man haunt for his arrest.
The escapee was sleeping when police found him lying on top of a rifle he had stolen from a nearby resident late Monday night. He tried to flee by crawling through thick underbrush with the rifle in his hand but the armed officers released a police dog which bit him preventing him from using the rifle and the police then took him to custody .
His sister,Eleni Cavalcante,was arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and said to be in the process of being deported after failing to cooperate with the investigation.
