The National Security Adviser,Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has given an insight to the Federal Government ‘s progress on the security situation in the country saying the spate of insecurity and criminality has drastically reduced under Bola Tinubu’s administration..
Ribadu who made this known on Thursday while speaking at the 19th Edition of the All Nigeria Editors (ANEC) Conference said though it takes a while to clinically get rid of Kidnapping which has replaced armed robbery because it had been around for a long time, yet work is going on unannounced to nip the menace in the bud..
On banditry, the NSA said that the situation is being aggressively tackled adding that under the previous governments,more than 1000 persons were killed by terrorists in communities in the North East and North West but the narrative has changed since the Inception of the Tinubu’ administration as criminally induced deaths have reduced to about a hundred monthly.
Further unfolding the federal government ‘s commitment towards enhancing security in the country,, Ribadu citied the Abuja – Kaduna Highway as a test case..
According to him, the road which was very unsafe to travel before Tinubu came into officel,is safe and people can now ply the route without fear of being attacked .
Ribadu, the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC told the NGE that so much is being done to restore confidence in the security and other sectors but explained that the government believes in doing things without saying too much.
While urging the Media to do its best to support the country saying it is a task that must be done as ‘we do not have any other country’ Ribadu commended the Leadership of the Labour Unions for their patriotism and understanding in calling off the nationwide strike.
