The Inspector General of Police IGP, Kayode Egbetokun has arrived at Jos the, Plateau state capital to meet with the governor and stakeholders in relation to the Christmas day attacks on communities in Bokkos and Barkin – Ladi Local Government Areas of the state which resulted in the death of over 200 people.
President Bola Tinubu had in the wake of the killing ordered security operatives to arrest the culprits and also ordered immediate relief assistance to survivors of the attacks.
In line with this, the IGP has ordered the deployment of tactical teams, equipment, and relocation of AIG Zone 4 to Plateau State with immediate effect.
The attack said to be carried out by bandits destroyed several homes and inflicted different degrees of injuries on more than 300 villagers.
The incident has received condemnation from different groups. The Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN in a statement by its president,Rev. Daniel Okoh called on the Federal Government to initiate measures to forestall a repeat of the heinous crime . Similarly , the United Nations Human Rights Chief,Volker Turk condemned the attacks and called for investigation into the incident.
