Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Edison Ehie as his new Chief of Staff.
Ehie, the immediate past Speaker replaces Chidi Amadi a relation of Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
Ehie,who led 4 members House of Assembly had on Friday, December 29 resigned his position as Speaker and member representing Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state.
His resignation and appointment seems to be tied to the 8-point peace pact brokered by President Bola Tinubu a fortnight ago.
Before his appointment was made public, there has been a gale of defection in his local government area to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, the platform on which he was elected member and Majority leader of the 10 th Assembly.
He assumed the role of Speaker leading four members in a 31 member House of Assembly following crisis between Wike,a former governor and Fubara.
