
Twelve persons have been killed with two others injured in a fresh attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Gartamawa community in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State
The attack happened on Monday evening according to the Police Command in Borno State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, told newsmen that the gunmen drove into the community in Hilux vans and motorcycles in large numbers shooting sporadically resulting in the death of the 12 people while two others were injured.
Another account from the locals indicated that the terrorists stormed the village and shot at mourners.
Chibok is one Local Government Area that has seen incessant attacks by Boko Haram insurgents for about a decade.
The proximity of Chibok to the notorious Sambisa Forest, the Terrorists enclave also makes the insurgents to move in and out of the LGA wreaking havoc on the people of the area.
In April 2014, BokoHaram terrorists stormed the Girls Secondary School in Chibok town and abducted over two hundred young school girls writing exams.
While some escaped, others were married off to insurgents while some reportedly died.
Borno State was until a couple of years back, the hub of Terrorists activities as most communities were attacked and people either abducted or killed daily.
The Boko Haram terrorists and ISWAP, an Islamic group in West Africa claimed no fewer than 3 local government areas where they hoisted their flags and even collected taxes from villagers.
Villagers whose income depended on farming were forced to take permission from the insurgents to go to their farms and most of the harvest offloaded at stores of the insurgents,a source in Borno disclosed.
The insurgents also killed villagers anyhow.
