Popular Nollywood Actress and producer,Funke Akindele’s blockbuster,” A Tribe Called Judah has raked in N1 billion within 21 days of release.
Akindele who took to social media on Friday to register her excitement and appreciation wrote ” “Thank you Lord!!!. Thank Nigeria!! Thank Ghana!!”
The film first made an appearance in cinemas on December 15,2023 was the first in the history of Nollywood to net over N133million in its opening weekend.
“A Tribe Called Judah” centres around a woman called Jedidah Judah,who has five sons from five different men,all belonging to different tribes.
According to Akindele,” The story is so dear to my heart and it has a part of my late mum in it, and it represents the struggles faced by many single parents and mothers in society”
She added that the movie is currently streaming in cinemas in Ghana and the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Akindele’s ground breaking success in the movie has earned her felicitation from President Bola Tinubu and former Vice president,Atiku Abubakar.
The president congratulated Akindele on her success and assured the creative Industry of his support.
Abubakar also congratulated Akindele on the success of her latest film.
