The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly ,Rt Hon Gabriel Dewan, ( YPP) said he only recognizes eight members of the house as the Supreme Court by the Judgement of Governor Caleb Mutfwang has nullified the judgement of the Appeal Court which gave victory to 16 members of the All Progressives Congress APC after voiding the election of 16 PDP members.
The Court had nullified the election of the 16 members of the PDP on the grounds that the party had no structure at the time of their nomination thus making them ineligible to contest the election.
But the Apex Court’s judgement on Friday delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim that no party has the right to meddle in the internal affairs of another party is believed to have sparked a new twist in the Plateau House of Assembly.
Speaker Dewan ,who was sworn in after the appeal court sacked the 16 PDP members told newsmen after the Mutfwang’s judgement that ” only eight members are recognised in the assembly”
Dewan’s reaction is said to be generating another political crisis in the state
