The Police Intelligence Response Team,IRT have arrested 4 herdsmen in Lafia, Nassarawa State who reportedly supply arms and ammunition to bandits.
The suspects identified as Abdullahi Mohammed, Haruna Bello,Usainie Abdullahi and Yusuf Barkeje were arrested in the process of making delivery of the weapons to receivers identified as Yellie in Lokoja and Bello in Warri Delta State
The suspects were said to have confessed that ” They started the illegal business last year adding that they buy one round of ammunition at the rate of N700.00 and that their operatioal vehicle was a golf car..They said they usually open the door mart of the car and nearly concealed back after stacking the ammunition in it. According to them, this often enabled them to beat security operatives on the road”.
