Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a pastor identified as Mrs Mmayen Etim Odiuotip and five others for alleged Child Theft and trafficking.
The Police Public Relations Officer,Nudam Frederick who confirmed the incident in a statement, said that the command received information about the illegal activity of Mmayen in June and swung into action to apprehend the suspects.
Other suspects are Esther Efanga Esan,Rose Bassey Asuquo, Ubong Stephen Akpan, Daniel William and Edo Peter
According to the police statement,Rose Bassey Asuquo who is the leader of the gang, sold a baby in 2018 to Pastor Mmayen Etim Udiuotip of Land of Testimony Ministry,Marina Oron,
The pastor was said to have confessed to the crime,.saying she bought the baby for her sister named Esther Effanga Esan.
