The Police in Kano have arrested some spanish nationals and others suspected to be behind the distribution of Russian flags in the ongoing nationwide End bad governance protest in the country.
The Commissioner of Police in the state,CP Salman Dogo Garba,who paraded the suspects on Wednesday said the foreign nationals and their Nigerian counterparts were arrested after an intelligence report.
The CP said ” We have arrested six Spanish nationals and 76 others, including the tailor ( Nigerian). We recovered 23 Russian flags. We are trailing the sponsor.
” They have been transferred to the force headquarters because it’ has to do with sedition and national security ” he said.
Some protesters states in Northern Nigeria notably Kano, Zamfara,Jigawa and Kaduna were seen in viral video hoisting Russian flags,an action considered to be a treasonable offence .
For this reason, the Federal Government has placed some diasporans on its Watch List while the accounts of those involved have been blocked.
