The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.
PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary,, Ibrahim Abdullahi disclosed this on Channels Television’s program, Sunrise Daily, on Monday.
Abdullahi said,Wike has been summoned to face the disciplinary committee, chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi, to address allegations of anti-party activities.
The PDP National Working Committee NWC had in mid August set up a 26- member disciplinary committee headed by Chief Ikimi with the sole aim of reforming the party.
Abdullahi stated that the committee has received numerous petitions regarding Wike’s alleged anti-party activities, which are believed to have sabotaged the party’s interests during the primary elections and beyond.
He noted that some party members have expressed concerns about Wike’s continued membership in the PDP, given his alleged actions.
Speaking further,Abdullahi faulted Wike’s recent statement where he threatened to “put fire” in the state of any PDP governor who tries to interfere in the affairs of PDP in Rivers State.
The PDP national officer urged Wike to exercise greater caution when speaking in public stating that the party was disappointed by his remarks.
Wike , reportedly during the last Saturday’s purported Congress in Rivers State, threatened the PDP governors, saying “Let me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of PDP from us. But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody, I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states. When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace – anything you see you take.”
“I don’t understand simply because l hear they got some money from a signature bonus; and so, their heads are getting big, that you put a hand in my own state. Prepare, prepare, because I have the capacity to also do the same thing in your own state. Whether you are from Bauchi, I don’t give a damn. Whichever state you come from, as far as I know, that you are trying to put yourself in Rivers State, your hand will get burnt. And you will never sleep in your own state. You will not be governor again. You will see a political crisis as far as PDP is concerned. So, I have told them now that you have started, when I will start, don’t say I’m the one that destroyed PDP. You are the one that is trying to destroy the PDP,” Wike added.
Wike , the immediate past governor of the state also advised those displeased with his position in the Tinubu government to “go and hug the transformer.”
