Suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafran IPOB reportedly invaded Oyigbo town in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, killing two hausa petty traders and injuring two others.
The incident which was said to be in form of a coordinated attack by the IPOB members, focused mainly on areas inhabited by the hausa people.
Reacting to the incident, the Spokesman of the Northern Community in Rivers State, Alhaji Musa Saidu who confirmed the incident to newsmen said that the deceased were allegedly attacked and killed by irate youths suspected to be members of ( IPOB)
at Oyigbo.
According to him, the suspected IPOB members armed with dangerous weapons attacked an area populated by Hausa Indigenes.

Saidu said the reason for the attacks could not be immediately ascertained, however,it might have been borne out of previous threats issued to the Hausa community in Rivers State by suspected IPOB members .
He therefore called on the police to step up action and arrest those behind the attacks
Speaking with current matters on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni ,disclosed that the State Police Command was very much aware of the situation and Investigationis were currently ongoing.
Omoni said” We are very much aware of that incident but the only difference with the story line we have is the labeling of the group as IPOB, that is what we are not in terms with. An Investigation has been ordered in a bid to unravel the identities of those that carried out the act.So for now labelling them IPOB is out of place. “
” In the first place,there is nothing like IPOB . IPOB has been proscribed so nobody can operate under the guise of IPOB.IPOB in law is non existent. What we are saying is that it has no legal backing.”. he said
