The Association of Edo Community Leaders, Abuja, has appealed to the people in Edo State to eschew all forms of political bigotry in the Guber poll on Saturday.
The appeal was contained in a statement signed by the President, Chief Charles Oboh, and obtained by our Correspondent in Abuja.
Chief Oboh urged Edolites to embrace peace during the Guber poll scheduled for Saturday, 21st September, 2024.
“My good people of Edo State, the long awaited 21st September, 2024, is just a few days away. As we all come out to perform our civic responsibility, it is important to be mindful of the following;
That election will come and go, but Edo State still remain ours. Therefore, we shouldn’t destroy ourselves & properties.
That the ambition of any man, doesn’t in anyway worth the shedding of blood of a single citizen of Edo State. So, we must shun violence. It is not a do or die affair.
That in a race of this nature, one individual is bound to come out victorious. Therefore, whoever comes out victorious & whoever doesn’t must still all come together & work for the common interest & well being of Edo State.
Remember, a house that is divided can never stand.
That we have to vote to stay alive. As such, we must embrace peace & eschew all forms of political bigotry.
That you must not mortgage your future by giving in to monetary inducements. You are directly selling your conscience.
Seventeen Candidates are expected to contest in the Governorship poll among whom are Dr Asue Ighodalo of PDP; Senator Monday Okpebholo of APC and Mr Olumide Akpata of LP.
