Three Women and a Man, were on Monday September 7, paraded by the Gombe State Police Command for abduction and sale of 12 children.
The suspects,,Hauwa Usman 37 from Gombe,Nkechi Odulenye,54, and Faith Okpo 38,both indigenes of Anambra State and Bala Shaukali 38, from Taraba were said to be on the run since 2017.
The Commissioner of Police Maikudi Shehu said the arrest of the sudpects was in collaboration with the Anambra State Police Command.
The Police commissioner said the 12 children were stolen from different locations across the country and some of them were sold in Asaba, according to information the police got from the suspects.
Shehu said one of the victims had recognised the father who came to the command headquarters to check for his missing child, but it was not certain that all 12 children recovered were from Gombe state.
The male suspect, Shaukali was alleged to have sold two of his children to one of the female suspects, an allegation he dienied but admitted that he gave his children out for proper training and good education..
Usman,one of the female suspects, admitted that she had been abducting children and selling them for different prices. She said while she sells the male chlid for N300,000, she sells the female for N250,000.
Another female, Odulenye said she had an orphanage registered with the Anambra Ministry of Women Affairs and had been in the business of buying children and selling them to foster parents.
According to her, she has sold 7 of the children to foster parents at the cost of N750,000
