Ogun State Governor,Dapo Abiodun had suspended a teacher in Obada Grammar School,Amzadjo Elijah , after a student of the school, Monday Arijo allegedly died from complications received from severe punishment meted out to him .
The incident, according to reports happened when the teacher brought a dustbin to the class and warned the students not to damage it. But Ariyo allegedly asked the teacher if it wasn’t the contribution of the students that enabled the purchase of the dustbin. This remark by the student promted the teacher to report the student to the principal who,in return, directed the teacher to punish him.
Current matters gathered that Ariyo was given 164 strokes of the cane which made him collapsed . He was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta where unfortunately, his condition worsened and he died.
