The Anambra State Police Command has declared a lady wanted for withdrawing the sum of N2m from a blind woman’s account under the pretext of helping her to use the ATM.
According to a statement credited to Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the incident happened at a first generation bank in Nnewi.
The woman simply took advantage of her victim’s helplessness in accessing ATM transactions, and having noted her pin, withdrew the amount in bits.
“Preliminary information reveals that the unidentified lady suspect disguised herself to assist the victim and swapped the ATM card of the victim and a few minutes after the suspect left the ATM spot, the quinquigerian received several debit alerts totalling the sum of Two Million Naira ( N2,000,000)
” The Commissioner of Police,CP Nnaghe Obono Itam ,concerned about the incident, directs the Public Relations Officer of the command to contact the victim for necessary information that will aid the investigation.
” He further directed that all intelligent gathering tools of the Command should be deployed to identify the suspect and bring here criminal gang to book “
