Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court, has granted bail has granted the bail applications filed by the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, owner of a prominent indigenous radio station, Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat and the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Abdullahi Fasasi.
In the ruling delivered by the court on Monday,Oriyomi was granted N10 million bail and required to provide two sureties.
The court also restrained his organisation from broadcasting the news.
The defendants were arrested over a children’s party at the Islamic High School, Bashorun , Ibadan in December 2024 which resulted in the death of at least 35 children following a stampede.
Since their arrest, they have been remanded in jail. Arguments by their counsel to grant them bail did not materialise as the Oyo state government insisted that those involved in the tragedy must face the law.
