The United Nations General Secretary,Antonio Guterres has faulted Hamas display of bodies and coffins of deceased Israeli Hostages on Thursday , February 20,2025
On Thursday, Hamas returned four bodies from Gaza as part of the ceasefire deal. Two of the bodies were Kfir and Ariel,sons of Shiri Bibas,a woman who was also taken hostage on October 7, 2023 and killed by Hamas.
Her remains were not returned along with her sons as the Israeli military confirmed that Shiri’s body Hamas claimed to have returned did not match with other hostages.
Guterres took to X on Friday, to condemn Hama’s Action
” I condemn the parading of bodies and displaying of the coffins of the deceased Israeli hostages by Hamas on Thursday.
“Under international law,any handover of the remains of the deceased must comply with the prohibition of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, ensuring respect for the dignity of the deceased and their families”.
