No fewer than fiftty persons have died and several vehicles burnt in a, collision on Wednesday morning between a petrol tanker and a tricycle popularly known as “Keke NAPEP” in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital .
The accident occurred when the tanker laden with petrol (PMS) collided with a tricycle and reportedly lost control and crashed into other vehicles and exploded , burning
passengers and vehicles beyond recognition.
An eye witness,who claimed to be a student said the casually figure though not specified could be more than fiftty as many passerbys and vehicles loaded with passengers were burnt in the inferno.
According to him students of the Kogi State Polytechnic and school buses conveying pupils and secondary school students as well as other passenger vehicles and passerbys.
The sector commander of the FRSC,in Kogi State, Idris Fika in an interview with reporters said at least 23 bodies have been removed from the scene of the incident.
