The Nigerian Senate has placed the Senator representing Kogi Central District,Sen . Natasha Akpoti – Uduaghan for a period of six months.
Akpoti – Uduaghan’s suspension followed her petition to the Senate and public statement alleging that the President of the Senate,Sen . Godswill Akpabio sexually harassed her.
The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges submitted its report of which it found Akpoti – Uduaghan guilty of breaching the Senate rules.
In his contribution, the Senate Majority leader ,Senator Opeyemi Bamidele who,was named by Natasha in the allegations against Senator Akpabio ,advised the embattled Kogi Senator to use the period of her suspension to read and understand the rules of the Senate.
Consequently,Natasha was suspended and barred from representing herself nationally or internationally as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the period of suspension
Similarly, all privileges accorded the Senator were withdrawn.
Thereafter , the Senate adjourned plenary to next Tuesday, March 11 ,2025.
