The Afam Police Station in Oyigbo, Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State has been razed by armed thugs in the area.
The attack on the police station followed a similar incident two weeks ago by hoodlums on the office of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad SARS in the local government.
The Divisional Police Officer,( DPO )in charge of Oyigbo police station was reportedly beheaded by the hoodlums on Tuesday night while a police inspector was killed
On Wednesday, the hoodlums attacked the Afam Police Station in the same local government area.killed a police sergeant and cut off his hands.
A Senior Police Officer who spoke to current matters said he narrowly escaped the scene as he was shielded and escorted out of the office by his aides.
The attackers were also said to have caused trouble around the Oil Mill axis of Obio Akpor Local Government Area as well as the Diobu area of Port Harcourt Local Government Area of the state.
The State governor, Nyesom Wike had in a state-wide broadcast on Wednesday, said that government would not fold its hands and watch trouble makers take the laws into their hands and cause a state of panic and Insecurity.
He therefore, imposed a 24 hour curfew in parts of the state .
The areas affected are the entire Oyigbo Local Government Area,Oil Mill in Obio Akpor, and Mile one and two areas of Diobu including Ikoku spare parts market,
