The Vice President-elect of the United States of America, Senator Kamala Harris has raised the hope of women who were only legally allowed to exercise their franchise in 1920 exactly a hundred years Yesterday. for a course which began in the 1840s
Harris who broke the glass ceiling by becoming the first woman to be elected Vice President of the United States and the First woman of Colour told a crowd representing various age groups and gender during the victory speech at Wilmington ,Delaware said though she is the first woman to be elected Vice President, she will not be the last.as she said her election is evident that nothing is impossible in the country
“While I may be the first woman in this office,I won’t be the last”
“Because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities”
Harris who quoted America’s late Civil Rights leader John Lewis,”Democracy is not a state.It is an act” promised to root out systemic racism and work with the President-elect,Joe Biden to represent the best interest of the nation.
