The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has fixed December 5 for the conduct of the 15 pending byelections in 11 states across the country

the National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee,Festus Okoye
Okoye said that the decision to hold the polls on the date set aside was taken at a meeting of the Commission at its headquarters in Abuja.
He said the meeting was held to review the outcome of INEC’s quarterly engagements and consultations with critical stakeholders in the electoral process and to further review the security situation and other challenges regarding the byelections.
By the new arrangement,Byelections will be holding in areas including Bayelsa Central Senatorial district, Bayelsa West Senatorial district,Imo North Senatorial district,Cross Rivers North Senatorial district, Plateau South Senatorial district and,Lagos East Senatorial district
Others are Nganzai State Constituency Borno,Bayo State Constituency Borno,Obudu State Constituency Cross Rivers State,Bakura State Constituency Zamfara,Ibaji State Constituency Kogi and Kosofe 11 constituency Lagos.
The Commission appealed to voters and all stakeholders in the states with pending bye-elections for continued cooperation as it strives to deliver
credible elections under a safe environment.
Okoye said the Commission met with critical stakeholders such as political parties,civil society organisations, the media and commitee on election security before deciding on a definite date for the conduct of the election.
