Former Minister of External Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi says he feels very unhappy about the political situation in the United States and said America is on the brink if nothing was done to change the unfolding narrative.
Akinyemi who spoke on Television said what just happened in America reminded him of Rome under its fifth emperor,Nero whose reign is infamous and associated with tyranny and wondered why 70 million Americans voted for Trump, a racist and one who celebrates narcist symbols and movement.
The former Minister said he is alarmed by Trump’s handling of the coronavirus as the President recognised the deadly nature of the virus since February but treated it with kid gloves thereby sacrificing more than 225,000 Americans to the disease yet 47 percent of voters voted for him.
According to him,Adolf Hitler won only 30 percent of the Germans votes and the consequences were grave.He lamented that 70 million Americans voted for Trump who would not celebrate brave American soldiers whose bravery in fighting nazism is evident in cemeteries all over Europe.
